Water Risk!

Every phone owner’s worst nightmare: dropping their device in water. Whether it’s a bathtub, a pool, or even just a puddle on the sidewalk, water and phones don’t mix. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation, don’t panic. Here’s what you should do when your phone takes a dip.

First, act quickly! Water damage is an emergency for your device. The longer your phone is submerged, the greater the chances permanent damage will occur. As soon as you’re able, remove the device from the water. Don’t turn it on or plug it into a charger.

Next, take the phone out of any case or housing and remove any connected accessories. Dry the phone as best you can. Use a towel or a paper towel to absorb as much of the water as possible. Get into the nooks and crannies, use a can of compressed air if available.

Most phones are water resistant, you may be inclined to keep using the device, but damage will occur over time even if the device initially seems alright.

It’s still a good idea to take your phone to a professional repair shop to get it cleaned and dried. Here at U-Tec we have liquid damage treatments in addition to trained professionals that can service liquid damage on a variety of devices. This will help reduce the risk of further damage; and in most cases where owners acted quickly, result in the device being saved.

Remember to act quickly, a simple spill or dip is an emergency situation for your phone!
